Our rollout of XO laptops occur in four distinct phases (click to view)
Procurement
This phase involves:
- Raising funds to purchase XO laptops
- Configuring the XO for Australian schools
- Ordering the XO laptop from OLPC
- Shipping the XO laptop to Australia
Deployment
This phase involves:
- Shipping XO laptops to a remote community
- Setting up the required technical infrastructure
- Providing initial training to teachers and assistant teachers
- Giving every child a XO laptop.
Education & Learning
This phase involves:
- Developing networks between Australian universities and establishing Training hubs
- Conducting research into new methods to integrate the XO into the Australian curriculum
- Classroom Integration Training with teachers and assistant teachers to embed the XO into the classroom
Post Deployment Support
This phase involves:
- Purchasing and distributing spare parts to deployments
- Establishing Community Repair Centres that employ locals to maintain the machine
